I remember as a child in the mid-Seventies visiting a fete in my home town and standing rooted to the spot as Dr Who crossed my path followed by a pack of note book-wielding youngsters I pined the throng and caught howl of the time lords purple cloak, and the next day in the school playground I too found myself surrounded by awe-struck children for I had 'touched Dr Who.' That Dr Who was Jon Pertwee and his descendants save always seemed pale imitations to me. Tonight, Jon continues his adventures in The Paradise Of Death (Radio Five, 6.30 p.m.) where he and the Brigadier tight to escape the war and rescue Sarah Jane Smith from the clutches of Tragan the Nalgon.
