ACTOR John Scott Martin, who was the chief Dalek operator in 110 episodes of Dr Who, has died, aged 82.
He tried to exterminate the first five doctors while crouching inside his robot and making it glide around on casters between 1964 and 1980.
John, of Great Maplestead, Essex, used to wear only a T-shirt and swimming trunks inside his Dalek because it got so hot.
Battling
He said: "There was no special technique to make them move. You just trampled around and they glided about, a bit like a supermarket trolley."
John, who had been battling Parkinson's Disease, was most recently on TV as an elderly athlete in a directory enquiries ad.
He leaves a widow, Margaret, and an actress daughter, Catriona.
