[edit]

As Dr Who's new assistant, Sophie Aldred battles with Daleks and, later in the current BBC 1 series, clashes with Cybermen. But, it was all very different when Sophie, 26, first watched the long running science fiction epic which celebrates its 25th birthday this year. "I used to be so scared I hid behind the sofa," she says. Sophie feels that current concern over violence on television has resulted in much less explicit programmes. Says Sophie: "We are consciously careful about what we show — but I've still spoken to children who tell me there are moments they cannot bear to watch."
