[edit]

KYLIE Minogue is all set for her Titanic new role in Doctor Who. The pop princess will star in the Christmas special as a waitress aboard the doomed ship, as seen in our exclusive first pic, left. The 39-year-old Aussie songbird jumped at the chance to appear in the sci-fi smash and team up with the trusty Time Lord.

In the festive special, called Voyage of the Damned, the Tardis crashes into the Titanic on its tragic maiden voyage in 1912.

Ghosts

The Doctor soon finds that not everything is ship-shape as he uncovers some ghostly monsters on board terrifying the passengers, including Kylie playing a waitress called Astrid.

She joins forces with the Time Lord (David Tennant, 35) to thwart them — only for the ship to later strike an iceberg and sink with the loss of at least 1,500 passengers and crew.

Kylie, a Doctor Who fanatic who has based some of her dance routines on The Cybermen moves, said: "It is an incredible thrill to be joining David and the entire Doctor Who production for this year's Christmas special.

"Doctor Who enjoys a unique history and it is going to be very exciting to be a part of that." Show writer and executive producer Russell T Davies, 44, said: "Doctor Who Christmas specials are always a joy and we feel very confident this will be the most ambitious and best yet."

Kylie is said to have bagged the prized role thanks to her hairdresser and stylist Will Baker, who designed her Cyber-style silver spacesuit for her 2002 Fever tour.

He happens to be pals with Davies and told him he thought the Spinnin' Around star should make a guest appearance.

Filming for the episode, which will also star veteran guest actors Geoffrey Palmer, 80, and Clive Swift, 71, has just started in Wales.
