[edit]

"Master... Mistress ..." these Brereton youngsters have a tail to tell after meeting computerised canine K9 this week.

The ill - fated television character was guest of headmaster Mr. Don Templeton.

The little metal dog — which is due for the chop from the popular BBC series "Dr. Who" — arrived on Monday afternoon with his designer Mr. Mat Irvine.

Mr. Irvine is a visual effects designer for the BBC, and many local children will have seen him as Noel Edmunds' guest on the "Swop Shop" on Saturday morning.

He has designed for many programmes, including "Dr. Who", "Some Mothers Do Have 'Em" and "The Goodies", and was in this area to lecture at Stoke-on-Trent Polytechnic.

Mr. Irvine, with K9, called to see Mr. Templeton, his wife Val and their four children at 11. The Willows, Brereton.

He is a friend of the family, which includes Jeremy, aged 14 and 11-years-old John, who go to Aelfgar School, and Hob Hill pupils seven-years-old Ruth and Mark, aged fire.

Mr. Templeton is headmaster of Flash Ley Middle School, Stafford, and on Tuesday Mr. Irvine took K9 to to the school for the children to see.

There was a national outcry from children and adults when it was announced that the dog was no longer to appear in the series.
