Doctor Who is back (BBC1). To some people, this will mean everything. I watched the first episode in baffled admiration. The story started in Liverpool. We knew that because John Bishop was there, joshing with a large dog in military uniform. A grey-faced monster with terrible teeth said something threatening. Jodie Whittaker's Doctor is on the point of Flux. Whovians, enjoy the trip.
