DR Who fan Garry Sarney, aged three, travelled from Australia to team up with 600 devotees of the science fiction series who fear it could be "exterminated".
He met a Dalek at Coventry's Hotel Leofric during the 10th Panopticon of the Dr Who Appreciation Society, attended by ex-Doctors Jon Pertwee and Sylvester McCoy.
Organiser Andrew Beech said protests forced the BBC to scrap plans to drop Dr Who a few years ago - and he warned fans would keep the 27-year-old show alive, although BBC talks with independent producers "seem to have finished in a stalemate."
