DR Who's latest assistant has had almost as many incarnations as the Time Lord himself.
Former model Karen Gillan, 22, has crimped her flaming locks for London Fashion Week, posed in stockings and suspenders for ITV's detective drama Rebus and even played a frump in a school play.
The actress may have won over male fans as the sexy sidekick of new Dr Who Matt Smith, but her role in the 2003 school production shows she hasn't always exuded glamour.
Karen, from Inverness, scraped back her hair to play a teacher on stage at the city's Eden Court Theatre. Her drama teacher at the time, Sally Cop-pen, said: "It was a very successful musical and she did a monologue which was brilliant."
Last year Karen was cast as the 11th Doctor's companion Amy Pond with Smith, 27, saying: "She's a remarkable specimen."
She sent sci-fi fans into orbit during her debut on the hit BBC show on Easter Saturday, appearing as a policewoman stripogram.
