While everyone else celebrated Saturday, March 17 with green beer and leprechauns, local "Whovians" were either glued to their TV sets or down at the Channel 10 studio for the Dr. Who Look Alike Contest.
It was a landslide victory for Pat Engle of Alsip, Illinois who defeated the other four finalists by a hefty margin.
Engle, 20, has been watching the Doctor Who series since 1978 and, recently, with a group of friends, formed a new fan club called The Federation.
This is not the first Doctor Who contest victory for Engle. He and four friends, all dressed like one of the five actors who've played Doctor Who during its twenty year stretch, won the costume contest held in Chicago at the "Ultimate Doctor Who Conference" last fall.
Gerard Thielke, Milwaukee, placed second in the contest. Other finalists were Ann Jacobson, West Allis; Cindy Wroblewski, Milwaukee; and Rochelle Bernard, Milwaukee.
