WHO will be the new Dr. Who now that Jon Pertwee has quit ?
That was the question posed yesterday after Pertwee announced that he was turning in his time-machine after five years in the role.
B B C television already have a new man lined up but won't release his name until next week.
A spokesman said: "We know who the new Dr. Who is. but he hasn't signed a contract yet."
He added that Jon Pertwee's successor—the fourth Dr. Who —would not appear on television until December. Pertwee has already completed three more series to be screened after the present one.
Pertwee, 53, revealed yesterday that he can't stand Dalek! --those mechanical monster Dr. Who has fought and beaten again and again since the programme started ten years ago.
"I'm not scared of them," he said. "Just bored. They have been around too long. I prefer monsters with some life it them like the Draconians or the Ogrons.
Pertwee, whose two young children are avid Dr. Who fans is returning to the London stage later this year in a comedy called "The Bedwinner."
