Dr. Who fans in the region hope to slam the Tardis door on Joanna Lumley becoming the next intergalactic Time Lord.
They are incensed at the idea of a mere female taking over as Dr. Who and are writing to the BBC and to Dr. Who Monthly to protest.
The TARDIS in Durham, the official fan club for Dr Who fans in Durham City, is run by a woman.
Josie Collins, 58, is up in arms about a poll of 1,000 readers of Dr Who monthly. From a list of names, they chose Miss Lumley head of Glenda Jackson, Kate O'Mara and John Cleese.
The TARDIS ID will meet tonight to word its response.
"Joanna Lumley was not the choice of real fans, said Ms. Says Collins of Monks Crescent, Gillesgate Moor, Durham City.
