A 48-foot trailer, filled with monsters and villains from the science fiction series. Doctor Who, which airs here Saturdays (9 p.m., WDCN-Ch. 8), is coming to town.

The Whomobile, an "experience theater on wheels," will be at Hillsboro High School from noon-8 p.m. Saturday. and noon-Ci p.m. Sunday

News of the Whomobile's visit has spread like wildfire among the show's dedicated fans, and people will be coming long distances to see it, according to Andrew Davis, promotions director at WDCN.

"We're expecting at least two dozen people to come from Memphis," he said. "The Memphis station, WKNO, doesn't air it, because both the Mississippi station and the Arkansas station air it, and WKNO doesn't want to pay $1,000 an episode to broadcast it.

"On the Whomobile tour, Nashville will be the closest stop for Memphis viewers. We've also beard there are two van loads of people coming from the University of Arkansas in Fayeteville."

In addition to the monsters and villain, that have made appearances on the show, the tour will feature veteran British actor Jon Pertwee, the third of six actors to have played Dr. Who on the series, which has been aired by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in England for 24 years.

The tour of the Whomobile will take about 20 minutes. according to tour organizers, and after that participants may go to the Hillsboro High School auditorium for an hour of documentary videos about the making of Doctor Who, and guest appearances by Pertwee.

Pertwee played the doctor from 1970-75. and he will be accompanied on this tour by "Bessie." a yellow vintage car built on a 1953 Ford chassis. which was constructed for Pertwee's character and appeared with him in numerous episodes.

Hillsboro High School is located at 3812 Hillsboro Road. Admission to the event will be $6.50 per person. Children under six will he admitted free.
