Stunned shoppers looked on in amazement as the fifth Dr Who — actor Peter Davison — landed his time-travelling police box outside the new [[wikipedia:C&A|C and A store]]. Even one of his oldest adversaries, a Dalek, turned up to see him hand the keys over to the head of Whickham Police, Supt Bob Swift. The 13 ft high box wit; permanent feature at the Metro- Centre and will be used as a police information centre. A police spokesman explained: "It will be manned during the day by civilians, who will be in permanent radio contact with officers. They can got there within seconds, if necessary.
