Parents, supporters and community members filled the Loucks Auditorium at the Salem Public Library. The event featured approximately 20 cellists, all current or former students of Joseph Harchanko. This is the fifth year the academy has staged such a concert. "The level of playing by the musicians just continues to go up, much more advanced pieces, much more advanced repertoire and just much better playing all the way around," said Harchanko, who is the music director at Montessori Discovery Center in Salem as well as the principal cellist with the Salem Symphony. A highlight of the event was a group performance of "I Am the Doctor" from the British science fiction television series "Dr. Who."
