CURVY Jan Dennington need not be too afraid of the Daleks with her looks she could stop anyone in his tracks. 

And if you want to see more of model Jan this week, you will find her at Reading's gala night of the year on Friday, the press ball at the Top Rank Suite Station Hill.

Jan, aged 23, who lives at Cemetery Junction will be giving a display of go-go dancing.

And the Dalek? He (she?) will be there too, but when it comes to  entertainment. Daleks don't do much in the way of a cabaret. 

So their arch anemy, Dr Who, actor and comedian Jon Pertwee has been made the star.

Television entertainer Rolf Harris has produced a special painting for the ball which will be raffled on the night.

Although most tickets have been sold, there are still some left. These are available from the Evening Post office at Station Hill, the Berkshire Mercury office in Blagrave Street and Lunn-Poly travel agency in Market Way.

The price is £5.50 for a double and £3 for single, including the buffet which will be served by waitresses. Each guest will have a numbered ticket guaranteeing a table place. A few complete tables which seat ten are still available.


Another highlight of the evening will be the final of the Miss Reading contest. Eight lovely girls will be competing for the title, and last year's winner, Rosemary Russell, will crown the lucky girl. Southern TV man Mike Gray will be the compere.
