He was found outside his home in Kent by his girlfriend, Cherry Gilliam, and is believed to have had a heart attack. He leaves an ex-wife and four children. Dr Pedler was working on a new series for Thames called "Mind over Matter," dealing with the paranormal. He lived in perpetual fear of a nuclear Doomsday — not from Russian or U.S. weapon but from the "amateur" bomb which could easily be built by a competent scientist and set off in a suitcase in Washington or London. He was appalled too, at the way the world was set to destroy itself by squandering its energy destroyed the environment by pollution.
