WENDY PADBURY has a date in outer space.

Wendy (pictured above), joins "Dr. Who" [[broadwcast:The Wheel in Space|next week]] playing the part of Zoe, a girl astronaut from a space station.

Viewers have already seen the 20-year-old actress in ITV's "Crossroads" playing the part of a waitress.

Last night she said : "I play a Space Age super-girl, a sort of human computer who is good at everything."

Wendy takes over from 19-year-old Deborah Watling, who  has been in the programme for nearly a year playing Victoria.

When she leaves the programme on [[broadwcast:Fury from the Deep|Saturday]] viewers will be told that she has got tired of space travel and wants to settle back in England.

Miss Watling's agents said last night: "Deborah feels that she has been in the programme long enough. We are negotiating a good film part for her.
