FOUR years after it was banished to outer space, the Tardis is about to be beamed back to earth by the BBC, writes Andrew Cuff.&lt;br /&gt;

Plans to revive Dr Who, his blue police box time machine and possibly the Daleks, are close to fruition, the BBC said yesterday.&lt;br /&gt;

The show once enjoyed peak Saturday audiences of 16 million.&lt;br /&gt;

BBC Enterprises, Amblin Television and Universal Television have had discussions to revive the series which might reach screens, by 1995. The BBC said no decision had been reached on who might play the doctor.&lt;br /&gt;
