DOCTOR Who fans are in for a Real surprise - David Beckham has been signed up to star in the new series.<br />

The Real Madrid ace, 30, is a massive fan of the BBC1 show.<br />

Wife Victoria, 31, bought him a whole stack of Dr Who goodies for Christmas and admits Becks is "completely obsessed".<br />

Now we can reveal that the England captain is about to get a cameo role in the next series, thanks to writer Russell T. Davies.<br />

Russell, 42, told the Daily Star: "I have heard Becks is a big fan of the show. Well, I'd love him to be in it.<br />
<br />
"I am looking at ways we can write him into an episode."<br />

MillionS of viewers tuned in to last night's Dr Who festive special - making it the Christmas Day ratings winner. Fans saw David Tennant, 34, make his first appearance as the time-travelling Doctor, replacing Christopher Eccleston, 41.<br />

The new series starts in January - and will see Becks come face to face with Rose Tyler, played by sexy Billie Piper, 23.<br />

NEW Doctor David Tennant was so nervous about his debut, he jetted home to his parents in Paisley to watch the hit BBC sci-fi show's Christmas special last night.<br />

But his dad Sandy, 67, was sure he'd be a hit. He said: "We have been looking forward to the show. All our kids have grown up watching Dr Who."<br />
