Carmen Silvera, star of Brit TV WWII-set sitcom "'Allo, 'Allo," died Aug. 3 from lung cancer. She was 80.

Toronto native raised in Coventry, England, also was well-known for her roles onstage, including those in 'Why Me?," "You Only Live Twice," "And Then There Were None," "Two of a Kind," "Cemetery Club," "The Importance of Being Earnest," "Rebecca" and the Peter Hall's 1997 West End production of "The School for Wives."

Other TV appearances included "Dr. Who," "Z Cars" and "Dad's Army."

But she was best known for her role in "'Allo, 'Allo," long-running 1980s show about French resistance fighters.
