WRITER David Whitaker died two weeks ago in a Hammersmith hospital. He was fifty-one.&lt;br /&gt;

Eric Paice writes: David Whitaker first entered the industry with a play for the BBC. A Choice of Partners in 1957. Three more plays followed. In the early sixties he turned to series and serials, both as writer and editor. His credits ranged from Dr Who, which he also edited for some years. to Paul Temple, Public Eye and Mr Rose.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Later he went to Australia and worked on a wide number of shows there. He also played a prominent part in the Australian film industry. He was chairman of the Writers Guild of Great Britain from 1966-68 and represented the Guild internationally at congresses from Moscow to Hollywood. He had returned to the U.K. and was working on a novel at the time of his death.&lt;br /&gt;
