THE new Doctor Who series will not have cliffhanger endings like the originals, reveals scriptwriter Mark Gatiss.<br />

Mark, better known as one of the stars of the cult black comedy League Of Gentlemen, says the new series, due to hit screens next March, will all be self- contained episodes of 45 minutes.<br />
<br />
"It is very lean and tight and makes for very exciting TV," he said.<br />
<br />
Gatiss said he was sure the new Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston and helped by Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, would be a big hit.<br />
<br />
"The aim is to make it a mass audience thing rather than just a cult programme," he said.<br />
