DR WHO and The Daleks plan to exterminate Ant and Dec in a massive New Year ratings war.<br />

Beeb bosses will put the Time Lord head-to-head with the Geordie duo.<br />

It means a Saturday early evening slot for new Doctor Chris Eccleston, 40, and his assistant Billie Piper, 22.<br />

The Beeb's plot to steal back viewers from ITV was revealed by Russell T. Davies, writer of the new series. The Doctor team have been working round the clock to make sure it is a monster success. Davies, who also penned hit drama Queer As Folk, said: "We're going to be up against Ant and Dec.<br />

"So you can't be boring. You can't sit still with it.<br />
<br />
"It's got to be emotional and it's got to be fun at the same time.<br />
<br />
"It's got to move like s**t, really —and it does.<br />

"We're getting there. There are about 80 scenes per episode. It's a massive turnover of material — and we're telling good stories." The Doctor is returning to TV after 15 years. Wobbly sets and aliens made out of egg cartons and rubber are out.<br />
