FORMER DOCTOR Who assistant Karen Gillan made a spectacle of herself at a special private screening of her latest film.

She is still growing her hair after shaving it off for her new role as Nebula in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

But after a visit to the opticians, Gillan discovered she needed glasses.

She said: "It makes me look more intelligent."

The 25-year-old actress was at Eden Court Theatre in her home city of Inverness at the weekend with 100 specially invited family and friends to host a premiere of Not Another Happy Ending. The Scottish rom-com stars Gillan as a a writer struggling with writer's block and is released on October 11.
