IT'S BEEN a year for top-class theatrical drama in the North-East.

It will be a case of from the sublime to the ridiculous the following week, when "Dr Who — The Ultimate Adventure" takes to the stage at the theatre.

But "Whovians", the name apparently given to "Dr Who" fanatics, can pop along to the Theatre Royal and be surrounded by everything from the Cybermen to daleks and K9!

As a run-up to the production and during its week-long stay, the Theatre Royal is staging a "Dr Who" exhibition, put together with souvenirs loaned by local lovers of the programme.

There's daleks of all shapes and sizes, Dr Who posters and pictures, a Time Lord and of course a full-size Tardis in the reception area.

The exhbition is open now and runs until June 10.
