Daphne Heard, the actress, who was best known for acting the part of Mrs Poloueicha, or "Mrs Poo", in the BBC television series To the Manor Born, has died in hospital in Bristol at the age of 77.

Daphne Heard began her theatrical career in 1922 and was for many years a drama teacher at the Bristol Old Vic School. She was known for her character parts and took part in many radio and television shows; among the latter were Upstairs, Downstairs, The Churchills and Dr Who. She was born in Bristol and was living there at the time of her death.
