Dr. Kit Peddler, the scientist and writer whose television series on the paranormal "Mind over Matter" is being shown on ITV, died suddenly of his home near Sittingbourne, Kent, yesterday, he was 53.

He had completed six of the seven-part series and planned to make the final programme while the series was being shown so that it could include the reaction of viewers. Thames Television said the series would continue to be shown as scheduled.

Dr. Peddler was also co-creator of the B B C television series "Doomwatch" which he described as a series designed "to make serious comment on the dangerous facts of science which should be drawn to the attention of the public."

Contributor to Dr. Who

It was a part science, part horror series featuring such creatures as super-intelligent rats which threatened to the future of mankind. Some viewers found it too strong to take and complain that scenes were too horrific.

He also contributed to the "Dr Who" series and created the Cybermen which appeared in several programmes.

Dr. Peddler worked as a physician and surgeon in several London hospitals between 1953 and 1957. He became a Clinical Pathologists and was appointed Senior Reader in Pathology at the University of London.
