[edit]

Montreal-born actor William Shatner is unlikely to be spending time with the Tardis.

Dr. Who producer Steven Moffat has poured cold water on the idea in an interview with London's Daily Mirror.

Matt Smith, who plays the current Doctor in the science-fiction series that features a time-travelling police box called a Tardis, had suggested the cast and crew would "love" to work with the 81-year-old "sci-fi god," best known for his role as Capt. James T. Kirk on the Star Trek original TV series and spinoff movies.

But Moffat said it would be "too confusing" to have Shatner play the recurring character of The Master.

"It's already confusing that there are now two Captain Kirks," he told the paper.

"I love William Shatner but (British actor) John Simm is The Master. John Simm would beat him up if he thought he was going to take that part."

Dr. Who appears on the Space channel in Canada.
