[edit]

Monsters from Dr Who programmes and Kenny Everett's rubber "falsies" are included in a mammoth auction of 5500 BBC costumes and props, announced today.

Sotheby's are carrying out the bizarre sale in Chester on November 11. Other items from TV shows include the amazing elongated "trandem" bicycle featured in "The Goodies," and a colourful Christmas Pudding costume with holly trimming.

There is also a shocking pink outfit which includes the realistic rubber "bosoms" from "The Kenny Everett Show."

Nostalgia, too, will be catered for. Costumes will be sold from such vintage programmes as the "Black and White Minstrel Show."

The monsters from Dr Who are made from rubber, and covered with simulated animal-skin, scales, sores, gristle and simulated human hair.

And prices? Sotheby's estimate that the Goodies' bicycle, for example, will sell for between £300 and £400. Most items will be on offer in lots of between 10 and 40 garments. Estimates for these range from £40 upwards, but individual outfits could go for about £20.
