[edit]

Two Daleks, space robots which appeared in B.B.C. television's Dr. Who, a science fiction serial for children, are to have new masters.

But since the Daleks vanished from the series, hundreds of children have written to ask what would happen to them. Some suggested that they should become competition and prizes.

Now the future of two of the five-feet tall, fibre glass-and-wood robots has been decided. Today they go to children of Dr. Barnardo's Homes.

Two more Daleks will be kept by the B.B.C. in case they are needed for future TV appearances.

The Daleks are hollow and move on casters. A child will be able to control them by sitting inside and pushing with his feet.
