OH NO! DR. WHO has broken down in the Goldhawk Road - of all places - and has to call in the garage men for some help.
At least, that was how it looked to shoppers and passers-by one day last week when their particular "Tardis" got lift off from a crane.
But a policeman who was busily controlling traffic - as well as curious children - had a more rational explanation.
"All police boxes in London are being phased out," he told the "POST". "Mainly because of the walky-talky radios that we have now."
So with little ceremony the two ton Tardis was gradually uprooted and placed on a heavy loader lorry.
But there is one small consolation for the police. The flashing blue lights on the boxes are going down very well with American tourirts, and one was sold for £10. Watch out for the next U.S. space shot it could have some very unusual features...
