New badge is a baddie fume fans
FURIOUS Doctor Who fans have blasted BBC bosses for exterminating the famous Time Lord's old logo.
Devotees have swamped the Beeb with complaints after it redesigned the 41-year-old badge.
It had followed the same format —Doctor title on a starry universe background — since the beginning in 1963.
But for the long-awaited ninth series, design teams at BBC Wales and London-based Insect Design have put it on an orange backdrop (above).
Dr Who buffs have gone nuts on No-go logo .. 80s style fansites, dubbing it "dull" and "atrocious". One, Phillip Wainwright said: "It looks like the old logo has been blown up by a Dalek."
And another follower said: "I would be curious to know the corporate reason why it was chosen to re-launch a character beloved by millions."
Last night Sirus Deacon, from the Doctor Who fan store in East Ham, London, admitted: "Fans are particularly strong-minded and they don't like change. But I think it's great."
Other changes in next year's new series with Christopher Eccleston, 40, include flying daleks.
