[edit]

TOM BAKER bows out tonight in DR. WHO (BBC-1, 5.10)—and says that he'll be watching his final episode with mixed feelings.

"I don't usually see the show, but I'll be watching this time out of curiosity," he says. " And I'll be wishing Peter Davison, the new Dr. Who, good luck. I hope he's as happy with the part as I was."

He once told me that his intention when he left Dr. Who was to become a film star.

"Yes, I'm still in the market," he said cheerfully.

"So many ordinary people appear to have accidentally become film stars that I don't see why I can't.

"They seem mostly a very boring mob. I don't see why I can't join them and cheer them up."

TOM BAKER: Fond farewell
