IT TAKES actor John Bennett ninety minutes to make up for his role as Li H'sen Chang, the Chinese illusionist, in DR. WHO (B B C-1, 6.35). A cast was made of his face to model latex pieces to fit the lop of his eyes and the bridge of his nose.

The pieces cover the eyebrows, so new ones have to be stuck on. Then they fit a wig.

"As Chang I do a ventriloquist act using a very small man when the dummy has to speak,' says John.

"I have to put a sword through a member of the audience on the stage and it turns out to be the Doctor. I also have my leg clawed by a giant rat."
