A DALEK stepped out of the Dr. Who television series to visit the St. Nicholas Fair, held in the Labour Hall, Teynham, on Friday cvening.
He was accompanied by his creator, Mr. Terty Nation, who opened the fair.
Mr. Nation said there were a lot of deserving charities to which people were always giving money, but the time sometimes came to answer the call nearer home. He hoped people would spend gencrously on behalf of their parish church.
The people who visited the fair certainly did. It was very well attended, and the Dalek gave much pleasure to youngsters as it moved around - though unfortunately without its voice - in one corner of the hall.
There were the usual stalls, & competition and Father Christmas.
The fair, which was organised by a small committee of church members under the chairmanship of Mr. G. Williams raised £74.
This was the first time it had been held in the nine years since the Vicar, the Rev. J. W. Markham, came to Teynham, and be told the Faversham News he was very pleased wth the result.
Some of the proceeds will be used for church expenses and some will go to the restoration fund.
