DR. WHO'S new girl 22-year-old actress NICOLA BRYANT, (above) makes a dramatic first appearance tonight. She is saved from drowning.
Phew! However, the filming of this incident last October on the Canary island of Lanzarote turned out to be a wonderfully dotty introduction for young Nicola to the world of screen make-believe.
The cameras, lights and equipment were all perched on a high cliff in preparation for the scene.
ACTION.
Miss Bryant thrashed about in the sea below, screaming for help,
Not far away at a nudist beach a lithe young German tourist, blond and fit as a Panzer lieutenant, heard the appalling sounds and dived in.
On arriving alongside the actress the naked youth was thanked politely and told to leave. The humiliated lad swam away slowly, pausing only to raise two fingers spread in eloquent defiance towards the camera team. And who can blame him?
6.40 DOCTOR WHO. Four-part adventure set on a far off planet which is on the verge of being destroyed by volcanic activity. Anthony Ain-ley once again plays the doctor's old adversary The Master and there is a new assistant rejoicing in the name of Perpugillian Brown—Peri for short. See facing page. (Subtitles on Ceefax page 170.)
