BBC Video is this autumn to release ten drama and entertainment programmes on videocassette.
These will be the first productions in this field the BBC has released following the conclusion earlier this year of the long drawn-out videogram negotiations with Equity and the Musicians' Union.
The Best of the Two Ronnies, parts of the Butterflies series with Wendy Craig and Geoffrey Palmer, and The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, will be three of the first four titles to be released, from October 10. The fourth will be Doctor Who — Revenge of the Cybermen.
In early November four more titles will follow: a film-length version of Grange Hill, versions of the comedy series Ripping Yarns and The Good Life, and a special edition of Blue Peter called Blue Peter Makes .... which incorporates ideas on how to make things.
In early December three more cassettes will be released: a version of the thriller series Target, a compilation of the Goodies series, called The Goodies and the Beanstalk, and another compilation, from Top of the Pops, including performances by 15 bands who were in editions of the programme during 1982.
Equity and MU members who were involved in the productions from which the new videocassettes stem will be paid on a royalty basis.
