I have to say last night's The Day Of The Doctor took me by surprise. I hadn't realised it was Doctor Who's 50th anniversary.
Strange the way the Beeb underplayed this iconic milestone...
OK, there was Professor Brian Cox's The Science Of Doctor Who, the BBC2 drama An Adventure In Space And Time, BBC3's Doctor Who Monsters And Villains Weekend, The Culture Show's Me, You And Doctor Who...
Not forgetting (pause for breath) CBBC's 12 Again, Doctor Who: The Infinite Quest, Doctor Who: Dreamland, BBC 3's Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide and, on a musical note, Doctor Who At The Proms.
But apart from that, we hardly heard a thing about it. All quiet on the publicity front. I guess it's just a children's www.programme.No need to go over the top.
Naturally, the state broadcaster treated the Tennant, Smith and Hurt birthday special like a state secret. Dunno why. The story's always the same. The Tardis guy saves the world in the nick of time. Phew.
