Richard Hurndall, who has died aged 73, was an actor well known for his performances on television in "Philly, Burgess and Mcclean," "Love in a Cold Climate" and "Enemy at the Door.
Born in Darlington, he made his stage debut in 1930 after training and R.A.D.A. He played in repertory during the thirties and in 1940 appeared in Stratford-upon-Avon in "As You Like It," "The Merchant of Venice," "Hamlet" and "She Stoops to Conquer." In 1946 he appeared in Noel Coward's "Private "Lives."
He was with the B.B.C. radio drama repertory company from 1949 to 1952 and began his television career in 1946.
Later stage appearances included parts in "The Affair," 1961, "The Masters," 1963, "Hostile Witness," 1964, "Justice Is a Woman," 1966 and "Highly Confidential," 1969. His films included "Joanna," "Zeppelin" and "Royal Flash."
