Cult Hero Returns
Doctor Who is returning to cure the ills of fans sick for another episode.
The cult science-fiction television hero, whose BBC series went off the air in 1989, will appear in Death Comes to Time, an online-only radio drama that will be transmitted July 13 as six five-minute audio files. To get an earful now there's and audio trailer at bbc.co.uk/doctorwho.
The BBC's Radio 4 rejected Death, saying the audio play didn't suit the current audience profile, according to the official Who website. Penned as a pilot for a proposed six-episode series, this will be the BBC's first drama broadcast solely online.
Sylvester McCoy plays The Doctor, who is helped by a mysterious Time Lord in battling an alien that's fighting for control of time itself. Sophie Aldred also stars in the online episode.
