AFTER his first season as Dr. Who, the actor, Jon Pertwee, tells us that while enjoying a holiday in Morocco he was stopped by the local policeman who didn't want to check any driving licences but just meet one of his heroes.
He was only one of the nine to ten million people estimated to watch the television series each week. It all began in 1962 when two B.B.C. men wanted to find something new for young viewers.
The amazing popularity is outlined in an up-to-date Piccolo 25p book. "The Making of Dr. Who' has illustrations of the sea devils adventures which has just ended on television.
The inside story of the work is given, including all the background people needed and the mass of paperwork involved before one inch of filming can be taken.
