As a cable subscriber, I feel that I must protest the removal of WCET from the Viacom lineup. Even though it is PBS like Channel 16, it carries some original programming of its own — old movies, classic TV shows, as well as some British imports. One of my favorites was Dr. Who, which is becoming quite a hit here in America.
Is this the kind of service that deregulation of the cable industry gets us? So to all you Dr. Who fans, call up and complain, now! I did!
ROBERT STEWART Jr. Dayton

Now the cable industry is having serious public relations problems and faces hearings before the House Telecommunications and Finance subcommittee. The subject: Why rates are going up and public TV stations are going out.
