BBC Home Entertainment is releasing classic Doctor Who titles thick and fast in Canada. This is one of my favourite episodes from season 11 and features the most famous aliens, The Daleks. This classic edition has been digitally remastered and casts Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and Elizabeth Sladen as the Doctor's companion, Sarah Jane Smith.

Doctor Who's Tardis time machine crash lands on the planet Exxilon suffering from a severe energy drain. Also stranded there is a Marine Space Corps team from Earth seeking the antidote to a plague sweeping through the galaxy. Soon after they meet, a Dalek ship crashes nearby, also a victim of the power drain.

The Daleks, deprived of power, are forced to team-up with their arch enemy the Doctor to find the cause of the power drain. The show gets away with as much darkness and gruesome death as you can get away with at dinnertime early on a Saturday evening — the original UK broadcast time — scaring the kiddies with considerable style and fervour.

Extras include a half-hour making-of documentary and a behind-the-scenes look at a 1965 Dalek feature film.
