[edit]

LOVELY Dr. Who girl Lalla Ward has gone to the dogs for the sake of her art.

She has illustrated a new book on astrology for man's best friend.

Multi-talented Lalla, 28, sketched more than 50 drawings of dogs while working on Dr. Who with that mechanical mutt, K-9.

"I was thrilled when I was asked to work on the book. I have been drawing since I was very young," she said. "In the past I have designed the jackets of books written by my father (Viscount Bangor) and mother but nothing as ambitious as illustrating a whole book.

Her efforts were so well received that she is now working on a similar book dealing with the star signs of cats.

Lalla is rehearsing Hamlet for the Beeb's big Shakespeare series.

"It is a tremendous opportunity. I'm playing Ophelia opposite Derek Jacobi's Hamlet."

Lalla will also do another series of Dr. Who — but she is quick to kill rumours of an off-screen romance with Dr. Who, Tom Baker.

"I adore Tom and I know we are always together when we are working on the programme, but there is no romance.

"There is no man in my life."
