NEW Dr Who Jodie Whittaker is a winelord. The 36-year-old actress downs half a bottle a day, more than double NHS guidelines.
Jodie said: "I have half a bottle a day. There's a lot of pleasure in it and a lot of guilt, so it ticks both boxes."
Asked what her favourite smell in the world, is the Broadchurch actress replied: "Wine."
The mum-of-one is the show's first female Doctor in its 54-year history. But her casting sparked fury amongst some fans.
When she was unveiled as the new doctor they said that the BBC was trying to fill diversity quotas.
One moaned: "Someone wake me up when Dr Who stops being used as a vehicle for the Beeb's right-on social engineering agenda." And the Yorkshire-born actress said she was nervous about the role.
She claimed that she felt "woefully under qualified".
But she realised that there is huge freedom in being the first woman to play the Doctor.
She said: "Being the first woman is even more liberating.
And she brushed off claims that women cannot play the Time Lord. Insisting that playing an alien who can travel through time has nothing to do with her sex she said she hopes her casting will prove "that women are not a genre in that sense."
