BALTIMORE — A traveling U.S. exhibition of the BBC International TV show, "Doctor Who," carried on Maryland Public Television, is scheduled to appear at Baltimore Polytechnic High School Saturday and Sunday.

"Doctor Who," a continuing TV series about the amazing odyssey of a mysterous Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation Kasterborus, premiered on Nov. 23, 1963. It now reaches an estimated 100 million viewers and 54 countries around the world.

The exhibition, housed in a 48 foot van, is crammed with items from the BBC series. After entering Doctor Who's Time Machine — the Tardis — visitors will walk through the "experience theater on wheels" to come face to face with the most famous characters from the 23-year history of this television phenomenon.

Animated figures — all original pieces from the programs — are set behind two-way reinforced mirrors highlighted by spot and special effect lighting tripped by an effects sound track

Baltimore Polytechnic High School is located in the northwest corner of Cold Spring Lane and Falls Road here. The exhibit will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children under 14. "Doctor Who" souvenirs and articles will also be on sale.

The two-year U.S. tour of the exhibit is being organized by BBC Enterprises Limited in conjunction with its U.S. agent, Monarch International, and its program distributor, Lionheart Television International, to thank the PBS stations across America that carry the series, and to thank the legion of loyal "Doctor Who" fans.

Anyone interested in manning the exhibit should call 337- . Proceeds from the admission price will benefit Maryland Public Television.
