THIS edition of the revamped sci-fi classic marks the series' 10th week on our screens. There were naysayers out there who claimed it may have peaked too early and that after an initial few episodes, would run out of steam. How wrong they were

Fans old and new have been delighted with Russell T Davies's efforts to update the Time Lord legend for the 21st century - those who remember the original 26-year run have enjoyed nods to the past. while those coming to the show fresh love its storylines

Last week, viewers were treated to the first of a two-part adventure written by Coupling creator Steven Moffat. Set in London during the 1940s at the height of the Blitz, it featured the Doctor and Rose trying to protect the city's homeless from a spectral youngster, while the Army guarded a mysterious cylinder.

Here, a plague spreads like wildfire through the capital, just as the streets become overrun by a swarm of zombies. The time-travellers realise the only way they're ever going to get to save the world is by joining forces with intergalactic con-man Captain Jack.

Starring Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper, with a guest appearances by Richard Wilson.
