BBC Books is to publish its first graphic novel, a Doctor Who-based title. The Dalek Project (24th September, h/b, £14.99) will see the Doctor, as played by David Tennant, confront the Daleks during the First World War.
It is written by Justin Richards, creative consultant for the BBC's Doctor Who books, and illustrated by Doctor Who Magazine artist Mike Collins, with an introduction by Russell T Davies.
Richards said: "We've been keen to move into this area for a long time, and its taken a lot of planning and preparation."
Four hour-long "Doctor Who" specials are to air on BBC1 this year; the first, "Planet of the Dead" will be broadcast at Easter and will star Tennant, Michelle Ryan and Lee Evans.
The next graphic novel will follow in 2010.
