Doctor Who
Saturday, BBC One
★★★★☆
Steven Moffat, no relation, can do jokes, and Saturday's split-season return of his Doctor Who was dotted with pearls. Celia Imrie as the dragon in charge of uploading Londoners' souls to the cloud explained that it was a hit like "immortality, only fatal". Beware unknown wi-fi connections and people with bed pans rather than craniums behind their faces. The doctor's new companion, Clara, continues to be hyped as a woman of mystery. Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays her, looks anything but. But I like Clara's attitude in calling the Tardis the doctor's "snog box" — arid, as I have not said so before, I like the new-look inside, which is, in the show's 50th year, of course, a tribute to its old look, way back when Old Bert was but 63.
