PLANS for BBC serials were announced by Donald Wilson, head of television serials, last Thursday. Ideas for several new productions were outlined.

The dramatisation of well-known novels and a new thriller, crime series are being prepared for BBC2. The present channel will follow its Sunday serial. Kidnapped, with such classics as The Count of Monte Christo and Martin Chuzzlewit.

A twice weekly serial is being considered to run alongside Compact which will continue into the foreseeable future.

Last Saturday saw the first of a new series entitled Dr. Who produced by Verity Lambert. Basically aimed at the 11 - 14 age group, it is also designed to bridge the family viewing gap between afternoon and evening audiences.
